Two Street Lamps

“Wow! What a gorgeous shine!”

You know the tender energy of that kind. The kind that makes you feel at ease, yet somehow inspired. When you’re around them, you find yourself doing things you wouldn’t normally do—smiling without a second thought, standing a little taller, speaking with confidence. It’s an energy, a force—ki, mana, or whatever different cultures may call it. It surrounds them like something soft, magical, and irresistible. You don’t just notice it; you’re drawn to it, unintentionally at first—but, in time, preferably. Just when you feel like the time is up you need leave, you hear gentle words ‘You don’t have to… you don’t have to do anything…’

“I wish I could reach, I wish I could… I just… I don’t know… touch, feel, get close…”

“just one step!”

That’s when they both fade away with the rising sun. Birds begin to sing, people pass by without a second glance…

Another impossible reunion of two street lamps comes to an end, leaving behind the curiosity of what will happen when the sun sets once more.
